We’ve had a few trips up to Eriswell, bit of a trek up to Suffolk but well worth the effort. The World Skeet Masters event is held here over a long weekend, and although I didn’t partake it was a great event to spectate, especially as there were a party of our local skeet shooters competing.
This of course made a perfect excuse for a long weekend away, and the associated eating drinking and good times.
The facilities at Eriswell are absolutely second to none for all the disciplines, it’s not surprising that they’ve won so many prestigeous awards.
Sporting layout consists of multiple stands on a promatic card system. There’s pretty much every concievable target possible, a flush setup, rabbit skeet, some lovely high birds on a tower lift in the woods, raised platform stands and the infamous squirrel. We had a few minor problems with no birds and traps not working correctly, which were rectified after calling the ground staff. They were reluctant to give credits for our non presented targets at the cash desk siting a 1% allowance.
The ground is quite a size, we took the lazy option of hiring a buggy for the day, a bargain at £8-00
Last time we were there the magnificent new clubhouse was under construction, looking to be a large centre for all shooters needs, corporate gatherings, and of course food and drink.
Lakenheath airbase is nearby, you’ll be distracted by the fighter jets taking off and landing…well at least for the first visit!
Plenty of solid ground parking and all other facilities you’d expect here, and at a reasonable pricing structure.
