We were on our way back from the West Country so decided to split the journey midway and visit Owls Lodge, I’d heard some good things said about this ground so it was definitely on the shortlist to visit.
Very easy to find, 20 mins from our stay over in Andover, the log cabin clubhouse sits in a large carpark, set in beautifully tended grass and woodland setting.
We were greeted by Lauren at reception and given a quick rundown of the facilities and layout, grabbed a promatic card and off we went, hoping the rain wouldn’t spoil our first visit.
The sporting layout consisted of 14 or so stands, but nicely integrated into the sport trap, skeet, and trap layouts, thus enabling several targets to be shot from just one position by using the multi-button controllers.
Much fun was had, the targets are well thought out and offer something for all levels of skill.
A heavy downpour sent us to the clubhouse for a nice bacon sandwich and a lunchtime cuppa, then we finished off shooting some tricky pairs off the skeet layout, and a real tricky left to right on stand 2 that dived into the tree line.
Overall we were very impressed with all aspects of Owls Lodge, just wish it was a bit closer to home!
Opening hours for general practice are Tuesday and Thursday 10-00 to 18-00. For Competition days check the website.
No cartridge restrictions, carts are available at the ground.
